Q. What is the CU Challenge?
We are encouraging staff and volunteers from credit unions to enter as a team and walk/run as many steps as you can and raise funds, each day from the 10th – 19th October 2022.
Q. Am I eligible to register?
The event is open to staff and volunteers within the Irish credit union movement.
Q. How much does it cost to register?
Registration is €20 per individual. Everybody who registers will automatically be entered into a free draw to win a €100 one4all voucher kindly sponsored by GreyGarde Solutions. The registration fee will go direct to the Foundation minus the processing fee.
Q. What happens after I register?
Once you register, you will receive three emails:
- One from no-reply@iregister.ie to confirm your registration
- Two from iDonate – one to activate your account and your profile page, and then a second email providing you with your profile page link and iDonate account login details.
After registering, check your inbox for an email from iDonate, asking you to activate your profile page. Click on the link in this email to activate your page. Your page will automatically link to your team page.
Q. Do I have to activate my iDonate profile page?
Yes, you must activate your profile page via iDonate email as this page allows you to track your steps and fundraise. Your page will automatically link to your team page once activated.
Q. I can't find my activation email/I can't get access to my iDonate profile page.
Go to www.idonate.ie – click login, enter your email address that you used to register and click Resend Account Activation Email. For further support contact helpdesk@idonate.ie.
Q. I can't activate my iDonate account.
If you see a “URL expired” or “Unable to send activation email for active accounts” error when trying to re-send the activation email, this is because your page is already active and so you must login to your account at: https://www.idonate.ie (Select the login button on top right and use the login details provided in the activation email)
Q. Can I edit my iDonate profile page?
Yes, you can edit your profile page, rename your profile page, upload images, shorten your url etc. click here for more information. You can login to your page by visiting www.idonate.ie and click on login and enter your details.
Q. Can I download the iDonate app?
Yes, iDonate has an app that you can download – you must use the same login details for the app and the website.
Q. Can I share my iDonate profile page?
Yes, to share your team or personal profile page, just click on the Share button on the page.
Q. How much do I have to fundraise?
We would encourage each team member to fundraise a small amount. See the How to Fundraise page here for some fun ideas about what you and/or your credit union team can do to fundraise.
Q. Can I make a donation to my own profile page?
Yes, you can make a direct donation to your own page or to the Team page by clicking on the Donate button.
Q. Can I do this event as an individual?
This is a Team event, however there is no limit to the number of individuals on a team, therefore a team can comprise of one person from a credit union.
Q. How many can be on a team?
There is no limit to how many people can be registered as part of a Team – a credit union can have a team of 2 or 22.
Q. I'm interested in getting involved but I am trying to get others onboard, can I still register?
Yes, you can register and join your team and then people can register and join the same team afterwards. Please note they must activate their page in order for it to link to the team page.
Q. How do I register a team?
Send each person the link to register, they need an email address to register and to pay the €20 registration fee. During registration they must select your credit union (team) from the list to join. Each person must then activate their profile page which is automatically linked to your team page.
Q. How do I connect my fitness tracker or app to my profile page?
This event allows you to sync a number of different fitness trackers: Fitbit, Garmin and Pacer. See here for details on how to do this. N.B. Trackers may take up to 24 hours to update.
Q. I don't have a fitness tracker, how can I record my steps?
If you don’t have a fitness tracker or prefer not to sync it to your page, you can also manually update your steps completed each day on your profile page. See here for details on how to do this.
Q. How can I count my steps if I don't have a tracker?
The number of steps per km/mile varies from person to person and depends on your height and stride length. There are around 2,000 – 2,500 steps in a mile for the average walker. A 5km/3miles walk would equate to between 6,000 – 7,500 steps approx. To read more click here
Q. I can’t see my steps on my profile page?
Trackers may take up to 24 hours to update. If you require further assistance please contact helpdesk@idonate.ie
Q. How will the funds raised be spent?
The funds raised will be used to continue to support the development of credit union movements in our three core countries – Ethiopia, Sierra Leone and The Gambia. You can learn more about our work.
